My First Poetry Feature in Ottawa

On Wednesday, January 23rd,  I performed my first solo feature set in Ottawa at a show called “Words to Live By”. It was fantastic.

Words to Live By is a relatively new show that is run by two local and superb poets, Jenna Tenn-Yuk and Brad Morden- and runs once a month.  It’s  held at this brilliant little sandwich cafe called Pressed Cafe. Not only is the atmosphere perfect for meeting a friend for a casual date or having a solo writing session, their hot chocolate is that proverbial “hug from the inside”.

The crowd was lovely for two reasons: first, that they came out on what was arguably the coldest night in Ottawa of 2013 and second, that they warmed up the room.  It was nice to have some of my friends and a former colleague come out too. For a few of them, it was the first time to the venue and to Words to Live By. It was also their first time hearing me and a few others perform spoken word.  The evening was intimate and interactive and I enjoyed every minute of it.
